This jquery plugin will clone the <thead> section of your table, including click functionality, and keep the table header on the screen should you lose your heading row due to scrolling. This will let your browsers see the heading columns and use their functionality (including tablesorting or any other functions that you may have set) at all times.

The table heading will disappear should your browser scroll down far enough that your table is no longer displayed on the screen and the fixed table heading no longer becomes needed.

Note: If you have a large screen resolution and can't test the example below because the table headings are not scrolling off the page; make sure your browser window is not maximized then shrink your window down untill you can scroll to force the table headers to leave the page.
